Octopus Ring Holders

My mother once lost the diamond in her wedding ring doing dishes at work. To prevent this, I made her a place she could keep her ring when she didn't want to lose it. And so I came up with the design for these nautical themed ring holders.

Each octopus is made by hand using polymer clay and then decorated with matching gemstones and placed on a seashell. Resin is added to the cup-positioned shells to create a pond effect, and then draped over the octopi to mimic the effect of being wet with water droplets. Sometimes I add realistic air plants and small shells to the outside for a more natural effect or to balance any tipping caused by the way the shell sits.

Glow Silhouette Scenes

One of my more recent products are handmade glow-in-the-dark silhouette scenes.

Each necklace is filled with a hard, clear resin mixed with a non-toxic powder that reacts with light to produce a glow in the dark. It is not your standard glow-in-the-dark chemical found in over-the-counter paints and dyes, and lasts longer and glows brighter when charged by either the sun or bright artificial light. I then hand paint scenes onto the resin once it has hardened in black acrylic paint. Once dry, another coat of resin is applied to protect the design from wear and tear.
